Specail Notes and Do's and Don'ts for the Badlands Illuminator Module
DO NOT USE THE “ILLUMINATOR” WITH THE LOAD EQUALIZER, THE “ILLUMINATOR” HAS IT’S OWN BUILT IN!
READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING THE “ILLUMINATOR”, NOW IS THE TIME TO DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL THE MODULE, OR HAVE A PROFESSIONAL BIKE SHOP MECHANIC DO IT!
DECIDE WHERE TO INSTALL THE MODULE, IT SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE REAR OF THE BIKE, UNDER THE SEAT OR BEHIND THE SIDE COVER.
THE MANUFACTURER, DISTRIBUTORS, SELLERS OR SHOPS CANNOT PREDETERMINE OR FORESEE THE IMPROPER USE OF THIS PRODUCT. THEREFORE WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MISUSE OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MODULE :
SNAP A SET OF RED LENSES INTO YOUR REAR STOCK TURN SIGNALS OR CUSTOM SMALLER TURN SIGNALS, INSTALL THE ILLUMINATOR MODULE. NOW YOUR BIKE HAS 3 RUNNING LIGHTS, HIT YOUR BRAKE AND YOU HAVE 3 BRAKE LIGHTS, TOUCH YOUR TURN SIGNAL BUTTON AND YOU MAINTAIN YOUR TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION WHILE THE OTHER SIDE REMAINS A RUNNING LIGHT, OR IF YOU ARE BRAKING A BRAKE LIGHT. THIS UNIT TRIPLES YOUR VISIBILITY AT NIGHT FROM THE REAR, AND AT NIGHT BOTH STOCK AND CUSTOM RIDERS WANT TO BE SEEN IN TRAFFIC!
THIS UNIT WILL RUN THE SMALLEST TURN SIGNALS OR OEM TURN SIGNALS AND MULTIPLE COMBINATIONS UP TO 60 WATTS PER SIDE WHICH INCLUDES THE FRONT. DO NOT GO OVER 60 WATTS PER SIDE!
WARNING! ON LATER MODEL MOTORCYCLES, MANUFACTURERS HAVE PUT IN A BULB OUT FEATURE, I.E. THE TURN INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH. BY INSTALLING THE ILLUMINATOR YOU FORFEIT THE BULB OUT FEATURE. IT IS THE RIDERS RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THE TURN SIGNALS MANUALLY FOR A BURNED OUT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULB. PLEASE PUT THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR MANUAL IN THE EVENT YOU SELL YOUR BIKE.
NOTE! IF YOU ARE THE MECHANIC INSTALLING THE MODULE IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE YOUR CUSTOMER THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
TROUBLE SHOOTING! IN ONLY A FEW ISOLATED TEST CASES, AND ONLY ON SOME FLASHER STYLE SYSTEMS YOU MAY NEED TO RUN AN ELECTRONIC HEAVY DUTY FLASHER PART #262 12 VOLT ELECTRONIC 2 PRONG FROM SIGNAL-STAT OR ANOTHER BRAND WITH SAME SPEC’S. THIS UNIT IS AVAILABLE AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE.
IF YOU HAVE OR INSTALL AN LED TAILLIGHT THAT HAS A CONTROLLER, YOU MAY HAVE TO INSTALL A DIODE (12 VOLT 1-5 WATTS) ON THE STOP LIGHT WIRE. IT GOES IN-BETWEEN THE STOP LIGHT AND CONNECTION FOR THE MODULE, I.E. JUST BELOW THE BOTTOM ARROW ON STEP 4. THE ARROW ON THE DIODE GOES TOWARD THE TAILLIGHT.
IF YOU HAVE LED TURN SIGNALS WITH TWO WIRES, POWER AND GROUND (NO WORRIES MATE!) IF YOUR LED SIGNAL HAS THREE WIRES, TIE THE TWO POWER WIRES TOGETHER AND ALLOW THE MODULE TO DO THE CONTROLLING. THIS WILL GIVE YOU MAXIMUM LIGHTING OUTPUT.
THIS MODULE HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO SHUT DOWN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER RATHER THAN SHORT THE MODULE OUT, IN THE EVENT THAT A POWER LEAD GOES TO GROUND VIA A CHAFFED WIRE. THAT MEANS WHEN YOU TRACE DOWN THE SHORT AND FIX IT, THE MODULE WILL STILL WORK PROPERLY. SO, IF THERE IS A PROBLEM AFTER IT HAS BEEN WORKING PROPERLY OR A WHILE, DON’T BLAME THE MODULE, GET IN THERE AND TRACE DOWN THE SHORT! BLAME THE MODULE AS A LAST RESORT.
